RENTAL  DETAILS  &  TIPS

Rental times

Rental times will vary as they have to be scheduled when we are not running classes.  Currently longarms are available for rentals  Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. Morning session 10-1 Afternoon session 1:30-4:30

What to expect

We would suggest bringing throw size quilt tops for your first project. You can get your top finished in that time period with simple free motion quilting. The time to complete a computerized edge to edge pattern varies, depending on the size and shape of the design being stitched, some are much faster than others. Attaching your zipper leaders to your project ahead of time is a big time saver. The beauty of the zipper leaders is that it is very easy to take a project off and bring it back to finish another day if you do not finish it.

If you are not finished with your quilt at the end of rental time

If the machine is not reserved for the time slot after yours, we can sometimes accommodate extending your rental time if the next time slot is open. Minimum 3 hour time slots.  If it is not finished then you simply unzip your quilt to bring it back to finish at a later date with an appointment.

Free motion/pantograph

You can choose to free motion quilt or use a pantograph. Free motion does have a bit of a learning curve, a simple meander is a great way to get started with the machine and finish a quilt quickly. Pantographs too has a learning curve and we have some very simple pantographs for you to use at no extra charge. Later on your can branch out to different designs.

Bringing you first project to quilt

It is probably not a good idea to bring an heirloom quilt or one that took you a ton of time to construct.  You will want to practice a little before you take that on. Beyond that, it is totally up to you! Perhaps a charity quilt or that quick project that you don’t mind practicing on. Or bring fabric to practice on and then turn it into a pillow, a tote bag, placemats or any quilted project. Planning a by Annie project? Pre-quilt your pieces on the longarm, it is just so quick and easy on the longarm.  Panel quilts are also good to learn on.
