I, like most of you have a little problem, I have a lot of sewing stuff, and I mean A LOT! In the beginning I started in the storage room of our home with my sewing stuff! It was full, but definitely worked for what I needed. As my interests grew and my absolute love of sewing began to explode, so did my stuff, all over my house! From my one room to another, to half of the downstairs living room. My family found my love everywhere from the kitchen table to the floor in the living room. It was taking over the house! My husband who is a wonderful and very understanding man had a plan, he built a wall! It was a beautiful, shelves on one side, tin on the other. The one side was my sewing studio. The place I could, what he referred to as "explode" without leaving the area! What a wonderful plan!
I was so excited to have so much space! Then Bernina came out with the amazing L890 and Koala with a wonderful new cabinet and I had to add to my collection of machines and furniture and once again, I was spilling out to the other rooms! I knew I couldn't down size and I my space couldn't grow so the only answer, build a she shed! A space all my own for all my sewing needs!
I have to tell you I never in a million years thought I would need a whole building to sew and create in but now that I have one here and almost done I can't imagine not having it!
I got a prebuilt shed delivered the end of July by semi. It looked so huge! It's 16 x44 and has 3 lofts!
Delivery was about the coolest thing I have ever seen! It came on a huge semi. Then one man and a small mule moved this gigantic building into place like it was absolutely nothing in a matter of minutes.
We have been able to get the wiring done, the heat and /ac installed and are about to start on the insulation.
When I am done it will be the home to my Bernina Q24 Longarm, my sewing studio cabinets, and all my machines. I will have an accuquilt area and a cutting station. I have a design wall that will be 7x8 and like any cool she sheds it will have a honeycomb hideout loft my boys above the closet/ counter area for them to come hang out while mom is working.
I know there is much more work ahead for my husband and I to complete this project but knowing that in the near future I will have quilt studio to be able to create and work in makes it all worth while! And after a long day of working and sewing I can sit on my little porch and reflect on my next days projects!
Life is always better when you can spend it sewing!

Love it. if only I had the room. I was telling my husband this weekend, that I’d love a “shed” in the back yard (not enough room, really) 15 by 20, but, I gotta say 15 by 40 would be much better. Oh, well, she-shed envy. I hope you really enjoy this shed. Jean
