Today is one of the rare days I get to work at home.
I bound a couple of quilts, completed this weeks clue to our mystery quilt, made plans for Nov/Dec/Jan classes, worked on the next newsletter, cleaned my refrigerator (YUK!), baked muffins, did some laundry.
But then it happened, the beautiful weather outside was calling my name to come out and drink it in. I just had to answer that call.
So I jumped on the Scout for a little trip on our own "family trail".
The family farm has fun trails, some of them my Dad took on a daily trek as his was doing chores on the different farms each day. Additional trails as well as many plantings of hundreds of trees are a bit of my brothers legacy. He has been planting trees every year for at least 20 years and now that he has retired he had made more and mows then a few times during the summer.
One of the trails goes right through the corn field, I figured I should get a photo today as it will be harvested in the next couple of days.
Then the path takes me through some prairie grasses.
I come across this. This is the homemade "camper" my grandsons and friends camp in many times during the summer. (I looked inside and saw quite a few quilts to keep them warm in here) :)
There are also several acres of woods on top of a hill with different paths, fun to hear the leaves crunching underneath my tires, the smell of fall in the air and the beautiful sights everywhere I looked.
There is even a stream that you can cross in a couple places. In this spot the grand kiddos swim in the deep part on hot summer days. It is always moving so it stay pretty clean.
This is one of the trails through the trees that my brother, Wane planted in straight lines. Perfect for a tree lined trail!
Here are more that he has planted.
...and back home again.
..
Blessings abound. We have our own little piece of paradise. We have to look no further than just outside the door.
These days are getting numbered. I hope each of you too can take a bit of time to enjoy nature's bounty.
