When the temperatures begin to climb spring fever hits and memories of the past fill my mind. My mom getting all excited when the first of the spring crocus pop up out of the ground. Farmers getting anxious. Kiddos wanting to shed winter wear a bit too quickly. Baby chicks arrive. Spring also was the time that we bought the quilt shop in Cresco and also when we moved here to Rochester. Life changing things happened!
When I think back especially on that first spring after we sold the dairy cows and I was in the shop in Cresco - big changes have happened - yet some things remain the same.
The sewing and embroidery machines, whoa, they have gotten so much bigger and the the capability is astounding.
Fabrics - it has been really fun to see the cycles, like everyone what once was old and out of date seems to come back around again with time.
So much has improved. Rotary cutters, specialty rulers, and cutting mats have made a quilters task so much easier and more accurate.
The plethora of books and patterns is amazing, there truly is something for everyones taste, style and skill level.
One thing that remains constant is a quilters love of fabrics, the creativity. the soothing of ones soul with color and threads, the quilting community and the satisfaction that only quilting and sewing gives its artistry in a way unique to each and every person. Different and yet connected.
Each new season brings with it new hope, new challenges, new dreams.
I find with most of our peeps this is true too when it comes to quilting projects. You see a new collection in the shop and it resinates with you and you just have to get some (or all) of it. A new pattern or book may challenge you. Reproduction kits may take you away to a simpler time or childhood memories.
We have SEW many new classes and events coming up this spring for you to enjoy and perhaps learn a thing or two, everyone is SEW happy that we can be together again.
Spring is just around the corner peeps. Breathe it in. Do a little twirl. Find what fills your heart and passion.
