I don't know about you all, but I am about ready for some boring times. I'd love for the news to have so little to write about that we put birthday wishes for centenarians on the front page. I'd love to forget to check what's happening in the world and have the most stressful thing I experience be playing "bobbin chicken" - can I get another chain of piecing done before I change it? High drama!
May we all see it soon! Until then, I've been focusing on projects that make me calm and happy. I'm working on some new spring clothes for my kids and myself on my Bernina L850 (I mean, leave it to Bernina to make threading a serger so easy it's actually RELAXING), and I've been spending more time on handwork to slow things down.
I've done some needlepoint (I'm terrible at it), a little embroidery (slightly worse if that's possible), and some knitting. I decided pretty quickly that I should switch to something with my hands that doesn't make me MORE stressed, so I'm back to English paper piecing.
It's simple, uses up my scraps like nobody's business, and projects are super portable (for when we start going more places - we're getting there, right?). For now, though, I'm turning on old television shows and stitching in my room. I'm working small squares with different patterns that will eventually become a quilt top made of little scraps from other projects.
The world keeps throwing things at us and I'm doing my best to help my neighbor and always have hope. If I'm doing it from circa 1980 on the Promenade Deck with Gopher, Doc, and Julie...well, I'm doing my best. I'm just so grateful for my needle and thread getting me through.
What are you sewing right now? Is it bringing you joy?
