Tucked in the back of my ruler drawer was a phone book just waiting to become something amazing. The phone book was over a decade old and came from my mother-in-laws house. The drawer was overflowing with rulers and was a mini packing puzzle each time a ruler came out and went back in.
On a whim and a sigh of frustration I decided to recycle the phone book…..Little did I know that Bonnie would suggest string piecing this week and that phone book was the key to my success.
This week’s Bonnie Hunter Mystery clue is sponsored by Audible and Coffee…..Another Friday, another clue….oranges…..warm and cozy colors to go with my warm and cozy mug of coffee.
Although string piecing would be fun, I have these lovely fat quarters just waiting their turn to become.
Bonnie offered the alternate option of strip piecing the orange colors and then cutting them into rectangles. This option was very tempting but then……..I glanced up and saw my design wall. The wall was full and my time is short.
I decided for the 4th option and cut sets of four matching rectangles.
My Stripology Ruler was my go to tool this week. The Stripology ruler was designed to cut fat quarters into strips, squares, and rectangles in jig time. I marked my cutting lines with Post it arrows and stacked my fabrics. One cut across for the width of the rectangle…..rotate and stack the strips and sub cut into the height.
My cutting was finished before my mug of coffee even cooled and I was able to continue with Stitcher’s Garden.
Just one more sleep and the next clue will be released. We are getting so close to Bonnie’s big reveal….what will this quilt be?
It’s a Mystery!
Happy Sewing,
Bernina Joy!
