As the weather changes, a line in the famous children’s poem comes to mind “As Ma in her kerchief and I in my cap just settled down for a long winters nap” As I do have my stocking hung on the mantle with care already this season hoping to bring some much needed Joy and happiness in these still uncertain times,I think of all the things I need to do to prepare for the winter months to come. It’s time to pick up the flower pots and make sure they are stowed away neatly in the shed, pick up the lawn chairs we have spent the last 4 months enjoy our evenings on, rack the leaves that have changed and fallen down and find those sleds. Living in the country the one thing I alway want to make sure I have on my list of winter check lists is an adequate stock of projects to work on just in case I do get that dreaded snowed in day. Bringing snowed in without something to sew would be as terrible as being snowed in with food, well maybe not that dramatic, but at the time it would feel like it! The other part of that is making sure my machine has had it yearly tune up! I hear a lot of people say, I haven’t sewn much this year, I don’t need it serviced, but that is simply not true. The oil and lubricants that are used to service your machine can dry up and evaporate even when your machine is not in use. Every machine needs serviced, every year! So make sure as we go into this winter season you have all your projects in a row and your machine tuned up and ready to sew for cold and yucky days you just want to stay in sew your day away!!! Happy Holiday Seasons!
I don't think I've ever been ready for a trip or event earlier than the night before. I have IDEAS for months, but those ideas don't come to fruition until the looming deadline of "if they don't trick or treat now, they don't trick or treat until next year" or "if you don't leave now, the airplane will leave without you" forces my hand and my sewing machine.
