Nina McVeigh is an award winning designer, quilter and educator who has been quilting for many years. Nina McVeigh is a quilter, designer, and fabric artist. She previously owned a quilt shop for 15 years and most recently was the Quilting and Longarm Specialist for BERNINA of America where she was instrumental in the development of BERNINA's Longarm Quilting Machines. She has written for several magazines including McCall's Quilting, Designs in Machine Embroidery, and Through the Needle.
Nina has contributed to the WEALLSEW Blog, writing articles on Heirloom Sewing and Quilting. She travels and teaches and gets so much inspiration from her students! She has also developed a line of Quilting Rulers. Nina comes from Stevens Point Wisconsin where she resides with her husband and enjoys seeing her children and grand children as often as possible as well as traveling to far off places. It is a real treat to have Nina as our headliner this year.
Kathy McMakin is one of America’s foremost authorities in the field of heirloom sewing by machine and by serger. She is the editorial director of Classic Sewing magazine, and she teaches beginning and advanced sewers from every corner of the world and inspires a new level of confidence in her students. Kathy directs sewing and serging events for Classic Sewing held all across the U.S. and is the director of Martha Pullen’s Teacher Licensing Program. She also teaches at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo.
She has been a guest instructor at events for every major sewing machine manufacturer in the world. She has authored several sewing and serging books and has
produced and appeared in numerous sewing and serging videos. Kathy lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband and has two grown children and three absolutely precious grandchildren.
Pine Needles own quilting queen! Kendra has been a fixture at Pine Needles for many years. Her specialty is all things quilting but she is especially talented with machine embroidery and paper piecing.
She has taught classes for years at the shop and we are so glad that she will be one of our featured instructors this year as she takes your on a journey of using specialty feet for a very special project.
When Kendra is not quilting, she and her husband stay busy as the owners of Dittman Trucking Company in Cannon Falls and parents to daughters Kylin and Brinli. Her favorite place is her sewing studio but you will also find her from time to time in competitions and pleasure riding with her horse Slash.
Debbi has been a BERNINA educator for the past twenty years and enjoys sharing her love, knowledge, and enthusiasm for BERNINA software and machines. She began sewing at an early age and began with garment sewing, but her sewing interests have expanded over the years to include all types of sewing.
Debbi enjoys dissecting the technical aspects of software and making it easy for others to understand. She teaches numerous online courses in BERNINA Embroidery Software to share her excitement about how
software can benefit all types of sewists.
Kathy Shalda has been a BERNINA owner and lover for over 40 years. Her first BERNINA was the original mechanical 830. Her grandmother taught her to sew at an early age and she has enjoyed the creativity sewing inspires ever since.
Kathy moved to Texas in 2013. Later that year she was invited to join a new team that BERNINA was putting together. She has enjoyed being part of the BERNINA Event Team ever since and is starting the 11th year on the team. Kathy resides in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas with her husband Jim. Together they have 3 sons and 8 grandchildren.
