Pine Needles Quilt & Sew is asking all that sew, to JOIN THE JOURNEY!!
Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center needs drain bag aprons for those breast cancer surgery patients.
Mayo Clinic performs over 75 breast cancer surgeries every month. Olmsted Medical Center performs another 20 plus, that’s 1,140 surgeries a year, in our community alone!
Every patient leaves the hospital with drains exiting the wound site. These drains are attached to bags. These bags hang freely and are cumbersome.
A simple apron to hold these drain bags would help ease one of those stressors during a difficult time. As it stands about half of Mayo patients get an apron because we simply do not have enough folks to sew them. Olmsted Medical patients don’t even get an apron.
Pine Needles Quilt & Sew has partnered with Rochester’s medical community to help produce some of these bags.
PNQS supplies sewists with the fabric, elastic, and the pattern to complete these easy/beginner rated aprons and we are looking for CUTTERS to join us at our Kit Cutting Day on Tuesday, October 16th from 10am to 3pm.
If you feel called to help or pay it forward, we would love your help.
If you cannot help cut, please consider helping to sew from your home. We will have kits packaged in groups of ten after our cutting day. Everything is included except thread for your machine.
Pick up a packet, sew them at home, and drop them back by PNQS when you've finished. We will gather the completed bags and deliver them.
This class is free if you have purchased a machine from PNQS. This class is...
