Beginner Quilting with your Machine Session 101, April 16, 2022 10am-3pm

 Beginner Quilting (bring your own machine)

Join us for this 3 part comprehensive class using a beginner book by Minnesota's own Doug Leko & Janet Moser.  We will begin at the very beginning.  This is a great class for new machine owners or anyone who might want a refresher course 

Session One, Saturday, April 16, 10 am - 3 pm

  • Introduction and explanation about basic supplies

  • General directions, proper cutting with a rotary cutter and rulers, begin sewing with accurate 1/4" seam allowances

  • Make a practice table topper 22 1/2 X 16 1/2, cutting strips, sewing strips, sub cutting strips to make 9 patches, proper pressing techniques,  how to make sure blocks are square

  • Assembly of the center of the topper, measuring and cutting borders that fit, completing the topper

Registration fee $99

Includes your choice of fabrics, top. border. backing and binding from the shop for your practice table runner, a spool of Aurifil thread, a seam ripper, class instruction. Quilt Basics book and a light lunch.

Class supplies (for all 3 sessions)

We will have a kit available with the following items included at a 30% discount)

  • Creative Grids ruler 8 /12 X 24  (additional optional but nice to have 8 1/2 X 12 and 6 1/2 square)

  • Rotary Cutter - we recommend OLFA Deluxe 45mm Ergonomic - with a new blade

  • Straight Sewing pins - super fine .50mm glass head if possible

  • Pincushion magnetic or stuffed

  • Rotary cutting board (these are furnished in class but you will want to have your own for home sewing)

  • Tape Measure

  • Stiletto

  • Bring your machine with all its parts, straight stitch plate, power cord, extra bobbins, foot control and manual.
