What They Don't Tell You About Quiltworx

I looked for a warning label. I looked all over the pattern, all over the kit, on every single paper sheet, and there was NOTHING.

I thought maybe it'd be in the directions after you sort out your pieces and start sewing. That's the tipping point when you are no longer in control of your own actions. Nope. Nada.

In an effort to be kind and helpful, I'll give you the warning that should be printed in big, bold letters. I just hope you see it before you start your first Quiltworx quilt.

WARNING: ONCE YOU START SEWING THE PIECES TOGETHER AND SEEING THE MAGIC HAPPEN...

YOU HAD BETTER HAVE GROCERIES IN THE HOUSE AND NOTHING ELSE TO DO FOR AWHILE BECAUSE...

YOU WILL LITERALLY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP YOURSELF FROM SEEING HOW IT ALL COMES TOGETHER. YOU WILL FEEL AN OVERWHELMING URGE TO KEEP GOING UNTIL...

ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU ARE STANDING OUTSIDE IN YOUR BARE FEET MAKING YOUR CHILD TAKE A PICTURE OF YOU WITH A COMPLETED QUILT TOP BECAUSE...

IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING YOU HAVE EVER MADE.

YOU MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE THE FOLLOWING SIDE EFFECTS I DID: PERUSING THE OPTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL QUILTING BECAUSE THIS MASTERPIECE DESERVES BETTER THAN YOUR CURRENT QUILTING SKILLSET, AND ADDING TO CART EVERY QUILTWORX PATTERN IN THE SHOP.

Lest you think this is hyperbole, you'll remember I'm the gal who had only gotten to the sorting into baggies step EIGHT YEARS AGO and put it down. I got to the sewing together step and in like 10 days I was hoisting this baby up for a picture like I had just planted it as a flag on the moon, I was so proud.

FAIR WARNING - they won't tell you, but I will. Don't start one of these unless you want to be addicted to foundation paper piecing, enamored with the ridiculously amazing colors, patterns, and magic of Quiltworx, and making plans for your entire house to be covered in batik, because here we are.

(The speed and accuracy was MAJORLY helped by my brand new BERNINA 790 PRO and its magical laser of perfect needle drop fabulousness - more on that with videos next time. If you're into Foundation Paper Piecing or embroidery, you will need to be sitting down...)

Thank you all for the encouragement as I picked this back up - I am SO THRILLED with the results, and your kind comments were spurring me on!
